General Health Tips & Requirements:

There is a risk of Zika virus in Cameroon. Medical facilities are poor and very limited, even for emergencies. Evacuation would be necessary in the case of an emergency.

Travellers cheques are not recommended. Cash is the main form of currency and many places accept Euros and US Dollars. Some ATMs are available in larger towns. Visa can often be used for petrol or groceries.

Entry Requirements:

A visa is required for all British passport holders to enter the DRC. A short-term stay without a visa is not possible. To live in the DRC, you need to have a residence visa. Required passport validity is six months, minimum. There are official fees to be paid whenever one is arriving in the country and you should get an original receipt for every fee you pay.

General Health Tips & Requirements:

Seek medical attention whenever you become sick in the DRC. There is very limited medical care here. Outbreaks include the Ebola virus, African sleeping sickness, and HIV Aids.

Money & Currency Exchange:

Kinshasa accepts some credit cards. The local currency is the Congolese Franc, although US dollars can often be used. Take normal security precautions when withdrawing money. There are money transfer agencies in the major towns. Prior to leaving the UK, make arrangements for obtaining emergency funds, if needed.

Entry Requirements:

One can get an Egyptian visa through an agency or directly from the Egyptian Consulate outside Egypt, prior to travelling. Minimum passport validity is six months from your entry date. If applying for a job, an HIV test is required.

General Health Tips & Requirements:

At about eight weeks prior to travelling, contact your GP to confirm if any preventive measures and vaccinations are required. In the case of emergency in Egypt, dial 123 to request an ambulance. Access to psychiatric treatment is limited outside major cities.

Cash machines in major tourist areas are common. North Irish and Scottish banknotes are not exchangeable and most banks do not accept travellers cheques.

Entry Requirements:

A visa is required to enter Ethiopia, obtainable from the Ethiopian embassy, from the office of the Ethiopian Department of Immigration and National Affairs. You are not allowed to work in Ethiopia on a tourist visa. Your passport must be valid for a minimum of six months and you are not allowed to change your visa status while in the country.

General Health Tips & Requirements:

There are many hospitals in Ethiopia but they do not necessarily offer the same standard of service as private hospitals. Common diseases include waterborne illnesses. Drink only bottled or boiled water and for emergency services, dial 907.

Money & Currency Exchange:

You can use credit cards at some currency exchange outlets in Addis Ababa, but it can be difficult to obtain a cash advance. Make sure you have enough travellers cheques or cash for the duration of your trip.

A valid passport is required to enter the Gambia, but you do not need to obtain a visa before travelling. UK nationals will receive a 28-day stamp upon arrival. A 28-day extension can be granted at the Immigration Office of Banjul, or at a Tourist Police Station.

General Health Tips & Requirements:

Medical facilities are expensive and limited in the Gambia. Some prescriptions are banned under drug laws, so it is important to keep your medications in their original packaging and check with the Gambian Embassy before travelling. Malaria is present here throughout the year.

ATMs are scarce and not reliable. Cash is the main form of currency, however, more places are starting to take Visa debit cards, but not credit cards.

A visa is required to enter Kenya. For transit and single entry visas, apply through the e-visas website found on the Kenyan High Commission website. Required passport validity is a minimum of six months and your passport should contain two empty pages upon arrival. ETDs (Emergency Travel Documents) are valid for a maximum of six months.

A work permit is required to be employed and working without one is illegal. Recently, e-permits were implemented and you should register for one if you hold or need a work permit.

General Health Tips & Requirements:

Insect-borne infectious diseases in Kenya include dengue fever, malaria, cholera, and travellers must take precautions to avoid mosquito bites. Screening for cholera is done at the airports and borders.

Avoid ice and drink bottled or boiled water. For emergencies, visit the Aga Khan University Hospital or Nairobi Hospital.

Money & Currency Exchange:

ATMs are accessible in major towns and usually accept credit cards. Exchanging Northern Irish and Scottish bank notes is not possible.

A Libyan visa obtained overseas is not recognised in some areas of the country because of the recent political conflict. Your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay. Check the website of the National Travel Health Network and Centre to find out if a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required.

For short stays, register with the police within one week after arrival. Failing to register can lead to a fine.

For tourism purposes, there is no need for a visa for British nationals for no more than 3months. Ensure the passport is stamped prior to entering the country. Overstaying is illegal. Morocco people living in the UK and go to Morocco cannot have access back to the UK except if they provide proof of the status of immigration.

Sufficient travel health insurance is necessary. For emergency, dial 150. Henna tattoos in Morocco are common but have a chemical not fit for human skin.

Money & Currency Exchange:

Credits cards in major towns are accepted and the ATMs too in cities. Foreign money into Morocco is not restricted. Exchanging the traveller’s cheques is hard and it is not possible to exchange Northern Irish and Scottish bank currency. You cannot convert Morocco Dirham (MAD). Some areas of the country have very basic medical facilities. If referred to any medical facility, contact your medical/insurance company. The main illnesses in Nigeria are yellow fever, Lassa Fever, typhoid, and malaria. There is also a risk of the Zika virus.

Money & Currency Exchange:

Nigeria’s economy is most cash based, although debit and credit card usage is becoming increasingly common in the major cities. Carry adequate foreign currency because of the high costs of exchange. Changing money on streets is illegal and cashing travellers cheques is difficult.

As a British citizen, you can access Brazil as a tourist. Visit the London Brazilian Consulate website for further details. Follow the immigration laws of Brazil. Entry Requirements:

British citizens can enter Colombia without a visa for up to 60 days. An extension can be made for no more than 120 days. Passports must be valid for at least six months in order to enter the country. $35 USD is charged as airport tax for international departures and apply to visitors residing in Colombia.

Overstaying more than three months results in a fine of $72 USD. No more than $10,000 USD in cash can be carried when leaving the country and anything more than this can be confiscated.
