We can advise on how you can apply for a passport if you are not based in the UK, and instruct on the most common issues those based abroad face.
The Passport Application Form is the first requirement for any kind of British passport application. The form is an A3-sized brown document with 10 sections that is issued by Her Majesty's Passport Office. The same form is used for all types of passport applications, however the way it is completed differs. You will find guidance below on how to successfully complete it.
The second passport application form can be obtained from:
When applying for your new passport you will not only have to provide an application form, but also two passport photos. To be considered valid, these two photographs will have to meet specific criteria. If these criteria are not met then your entire application could be postponed, stalled or rejected outright.
Finding a place to have your passport photos taken isn't always easy, especially when you need to meet such specific requirements! We strongly recommend Photo-Me booths. These are generally found in UK supermarkets and sometimes in post offices too. If you are unable to find a Photo-Me booth you do have the option of visiting a professional photographer.
For those of you who are applying for your passport outside of the UK it is important that you use a professional photographer as photo booths abroad are not necessarily going to meet the same standards as the ones in the UK.
The LS01 Form is needed to report a lost or stolen passport. The lost passport form needs to be completed and sent to Her Majesty's Passport Office as soon as possible, to prevent your identity from being stolen.
If you find your passport after sending the LS01 form, you must send it to the passport office to be destroyed.
As part of the process of allowing someone other than yourself to lodge your documents at Her Majesty's Passport Office and pick up your new passport for you, a letter of authorisation is required.
With us here at Rapid British Passports, we will require the original authorisation letter alongside all your other documents which support your application for a passport. We have written a template that you will receive once the order form has been completed.
In case you cannot find your passport, you must report your lost or stolen passport with a LS01 form as soon as possible to Her Majesty's Passport Office. We strongly recommend that you replace the passport by applying for a new one as soon as possible.
In the instance that your passport is damaged, you will need to replace it to be able to travel again.
The standard length of the application process with Her Majesty's Passport Office can be up to 6 weeks.
Rapid British Passports are unable to process first adult passports but offer a Pre Check Service for your application to ensure that you do not face any delays or issues when making your first passport application. As part of the Pre Check Service one of our experienced consultants will review your paperwork before you send it to the passport office. Our team can answer any queries you might have before completing the form, and will go through every detail of it once it has been completed to ensure a successful outcome.
The cost of replacing a lost British passport is £128 for a 32-page and £137 for a 48-page passport. An additional service fee would be required to be fulfilled with regard to the urgency of the replacement passport delivery.
In order to replace a lost passport, you will need to first cancel your current passport and fill out the LS01 form, which you will find in Rapid Passports website, in order to re-apply for a new one.
In a situation where your UK passport is stolen, the first thing you should do is report your stolen passport by filling up the LS01 form, to prevent identity theft and then go ahead to apply for a new one. You can find the form in Rapid Passports website along with the rest of the application forms for a stolen passport and have it replaced in a week’s time.
A passport is not necessarily considered damaged if there are light stains which have not hampered any details mentioned on it. But, it is considered damaged if some pages are torn and if the pages containing your personal details, visa stamps, your passport photos have stains on them or if the lamination has come off. It is recommended to have a passport replacement in the mentioned cases.
